Frances P. Hadfield is an attorney with the law firm of Grunfeld, Desiderio, Lebowitz, Silverman and Klestadt LLP (GDLSK). Ms. Hadfield is a former federal law clerk for the Honorable Evan J. Wallach of the United States Court of International Trade. She is a licensed Customs broker and has taught Customs classification at the World Trade Institute at Pace University. She is also the current Chair of the Customs and International Trade Bar Association’s (CITBA) Trial and Appellate Practice Committee. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Hadfield worked in the apparel industry. She is the author of Import and Customs Issues in Fashion, in Fashion Law: A Guide for Designers, Fashion Executives, and Attorneys 319-346 (Guillermo C. Jimenez and Barbara Kolsun eds., 2009). ISBN: 978-1-56367-778-6 and “A Question of Evidence, Ethics, and Interpretation: Possible Perils and Pitfalls of United States Court of International Trade Rules 8 and 11” 19 Tul. J. Int’l & Comp. L. 573 (Spring 2011). Ms. Hadfield is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (B.S. 1996) and The John Marshall Law School (J.D., cum laude, 2001). She is admitted to practice before the States of New York and Illinois, as well as the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Victoria Watkins, Attorney at Law Chicago, Illinois

Victoria R. Watkins currently works for the City of Chicago in Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s Office of Legislative Counsel and Government Affairs. Victoria serves as legislative counsel for the Administration on all state initiatives. Prior to joining the City, she served as Assistant Counsel to House Speaker Madigan, advising State Representatives on legislation and procedure. In addition to her legislative law work, Victoria counsels, researches, and writes on fashion law, entertainment and sports law, copyrights and trademarks, and other related fields. She is the Chief Editor and Creator of B.A.F.F.L.E.D. (Business Advice, Fashion Facts, Law & Entertainment Domain) (Check it out!), a lifestyle blog on the topics she loves most. Victoria is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and earned her law degree from DePaul University College of Law.

Symposium Panelist Spotlight: Roberto L. Frías G.  Law School of the Universidad Iberoamericana   Mexico City, Mexico

Mr. Frias was born in Mexico City on February 3, 1979, he is a graduate of the Law School of the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, and became admitted to practice in 2003. In 2006, Roberto Frías obtained a postgraduate diploma on Commercial Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, Mexico City. Roberto Frias received an LL.M. degree, with Merit, from The University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in the stream International Financial Services Law, with the thesis “Comments on the Principle of Autonomy of Letters of Credit”, which was awarded with Distinction, and later published in the Volume III, Number 1 of the Mexican Law Review Journal of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. In 2008, Roberto L. Frías read for the postgraduate course “Juicio de Amparo” (Amparo Proceedings) offered by the Mexican Bar Association. In 2010, Roberto obtained a postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property Law from the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City. In 2011, Mr. Frías obtained a postgraduate degree in Amparo Law at the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City.

Mr. Frías is a professor at the Law School of the Universidad Iberoamericana where he teaches Intellectual Property Law and Constitutional Law Proceedings. Likewise, Mr. Frías is a visiting lecturer in the Law of New Technologies Program offered at the Universidad Panamericana, Aguascalientes. As of October 2011, Mr. Frías serves as a reviewer for the Editorial Commission of the Mexican Law Review Journal, of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Mr. Frías is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, the Mexican Association for the Protection of the Industrial Property and the International Trademark Association.

Symposium Panelist Spotlight: Aleksandra Vold, Siprut PC Chicago, Illinois

Aleksandra’s practice encompasses a wide spectrum of litigation with an emphasis on consumer class actions, product liability claims, and personal injury litigation. Aleksandra is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia College of Chicago, where she teaches Entertainment Law. She has also served as a panelist on the subject of fashion and intellectual property protection, has consulted for the Adler School of Professional Psychology on the topic of cross examination of forensic psychologists, and has coached John Marshall mock trial teams.

Aleksandra is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School, where she served as a staff editor of the John Marshall Review of Intellectual Property Law, in which she was also published. She was selected to represent John Marshall in a number of regional and national trial advocacy competitions, winning the nation’s largest criminal mock trial competition in 2009. Aleksandra earned the CALI Award for Excellence in Protection Intellectual Property in a Global/Digital Environment. She also served as a member of the Trial Advocacy Executive Board and was the secretary of John Marshall’s Decalogue Society for two years.
